I'm looking for a player that will work for everyone. In the comments, let me know what browser you are using, whether you are on a PC or Mac, and which of these you can see and play. Thanks!

I don't see any difference between 2,5 and 3,6 :P
ReplyDelete6 doesn't have an audio track.
4 doesn't show up anything (Windows XP, Firefox)
My choises: 1,2,3,7 :)
In IE8 1,3,5,and 7 work for me.
ReplyDeleteIn Firefox with that new Adobe plugin update 10.0.05 from yesterday 1,2,3,5, and 7 work.
6 shows up in both browsers but does nothing. Still getting the quicktime icon in IE8 (2 and 4) but nothing else and I could not find an update that would make it work.
1, 3, 5, 7 work for me. i'm on a PC and my browser is IE7
ReplyDelete1,2,3,4,5,7 work for me I use Safari on a mac computer. I don't really like 1 but it works. 6 shows up on my browser but once I hit play it does nothing
ReplyDeleteiPhone visitor here and this is the first time I have been able to hear ANYTHING on the site. 3,4,5,6 played on my iPhone which is awesome. That yahoo player was rubbish and anything flash an iPhone cannot play or see.
ReplyDeleteon IE7 on XP, 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 all work for me
ReplyDeleteOn IE8, 1,6 & 7 are working for me.
ReplyDelete1,2,4,7 and I am using Google Chrome.
ReplyDeletewindows 7 64bit, firefox
ReplyDelete1,2,3,7 worked
4,5,6 didn't work
I like 1 and 7 the most and I think 7 would work best
I have a Mac. 6 didn't work at all, it just sat there. 1-5 & 7 all worked fine but 1,3,4, 7 were much clearer. 2 & 5 had a lot of fuzzy static.
ReplyDeleteI have a PC and use internet explorer. All of them except for 2 and 4 work on my computer.
ReplyDeleteI'm on a PC using Google Chrome. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 work fine. 5 is just a blank box, and I can see 6, but when I press play nothing happens.
ReplyDelete7 is my personal favorite. =]
On a PC using firefox. 1,2, and 7 are the only ones that worked for me. 6 shows, but doesn't play anything, 4 is just a black box, and the rest are blank. (hope this helps, I really love to hear the audio) :)
ReplyDelete1, 2, 6, 7 work for me with Firefox on a PC!
ReplyDeleteYeah I second 3-6 for iPhone. Please keep one of those for iPhone users!
ReplyDeleteall but 2 and 4 work for me with IE on windows xp
ReplyDeletemac-firefox, only 1 and 7 work for me. Can't even see 3 & 5
ReplyDeleteWindows 7 64bit, Google Chrome browser....
ReplyDelete3 does not work!
4 doesn't work (up to date firefox on windows xp)
ReplyDeleteThe others work. Personally I prefer 3 and 7. I don't like 1 (not a fan of the bottom of the page thing...thinking about listening to multiple files).
P.S. Thanks so much for testing multiple options! The current version with pink play button rarely works for me.
Windows 7 64bit, Chrome 4.1.something.
ReplyDelete1) works, but it's awkward
2) works
3) doesn't quite work (controls out of reach)
4) works
5) doesn't work (extra plugin needed, can't bother)
6) doesn't work
7) works
I would personally go with 7 or 2.
2, 4, 6 & 7 work for me. I'm on a PC and I use Google Chrome for my browser
ReplyDeleteEverything but player number 5. I'm a mac user and I'm working on google chrome at the moment!
ReplyDeleteI'm a PC on Google chrome
ReplyDelete1-4 and 7 work well.
5 states a plug-in is required that is not available to me
6 I can see but it will not play
good luck sifting through all of this and making a decision! You guys are hilariously awesome!
I'm a PC with windows7 and firefox.
ReplyDelete1,2,3 & 5 work fine
4 won't load
6 won't play
can't see 7
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletecorrection: I'm using Safari on Mac,
ReplyDeletecan see all
can play all BUT no.6. it freezes
Oh. And gee it was fun having 6 Adams -make that 5, no.6 did not play- talk at the same time, warning me about the werepig :-D
ReplyDeletegoodness i hope it won't give me nightmares
PC with FireFox
ReplyDeleteAll but 4 and 6 work for me!
6 looks fine, but doesn't play anything, and 4 doesn't show up at all
Pc with W7. Firefox. Number 4 is the only one that doesn't work for me.
ReplyDeleteI can see all but 4, and 6 doesn't play. I'm using firefox on Windows Vista.
ReplyDelete1, 2, 3, 4, & 7 work! i'm using a macbook. i can see them all, except five is just a grey rectangle
ReplyDelete2,3,5 & 7 worked no problem
ReplyDelete1 crashed my browser
4 dosnt work
6 doesnt work but i can interact with it
Firefox 3.6.3 on PC with 32bit Vista Home Premium
1, 2, and 7 works perfectly for me (PC, Firefox). 3 and 5 actually works with the audio, but it is just shown as a couple of black squares. 4 and 6 doesn't work at all.
ReplyDeleteI can see and hear 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7.
ReplyDeleteOn a PC with Google Chrome..
And just for the record, you've got followers in Sweden too ;)
4 and 6 don't work for me.
ReplyDeletePC(Win 7) with Firefox.
I'm using a PC (Windows Vista) with Firefox. 1, 2, and 7 work. 3-5 don't show up, and 6 just doesn't play.
ReplyDelete5 and 6 do not work for me on a PC, using Google Crome. 3 works, but plays automatically, which meant that several clips started up at once when I opened the site today.
ReplyDeleteWith 4 you aught to disable the graceful degradation when testing:
ReplyDeleteie:
You do not support the audio tag :(
note: you must create an .ogg file AND an .mp3 file (you can use audacity to export to .ogg)
Ah html is not supported :( please email me back
ReplyDeleteThey all work but 4 and 6. 4 is a blank gray box, and 6 is visible, but does not play.
ReplyDeleteAm I the first Linux user to post here? Running Firefox 3.6.3 on Ubuntu Linux 9.10
Power to the penguins! and the werepigs!
5 and 6 dont work for me but that could because i'm using google chrome also 7 will automatically play when the page loads so i got all the audio clips playing at the same time.....
ReplyDeleteI'm on pc using Chrome. I'm pretty sure it's number 3 that's playing as soon as the page loads - you can see the bar moving along.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite bizarre, having lots of Sleep Talkin' Men all talking at once!
I'm on Google Chrome on a pc as well. #3 plays as soon as the page opens, which is a problem on the main page, because they are all playing!!
ReplyDelete#5 and 6 don't work for me at all.
The rest work just fine!!
Im on IE8 and PC and 1,3,5,6,& 7 all worked for me.
ReplyDeleteBlanketsByMi.blogspot.com
3 and 5 work for me on Internet Explorer 7(or 8...I'm not entirely sure) using a PC. 7 didn't work at all, it just kept trying to buffer.
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about 3, 4 and 5 is that they work on my iPhone.
ReplyDelete6 works too, but it becomes just a link to the sound instead of having the graphic.
1+2 work
ReplyDelete34+5 only show black boxes where the media should be
6 shows but plays no sound
7 works
I am using firefox under linux, ubuntu.
My testing is as follows:
ReplyDeleteTest machine: Intel Core2 Duo @ 3.16GHz running 2Gb RAM, sporting a Windows 7 Professional operating system, fully up to date.
Cache is cleaned for test of each player.
Firefox 3.6.3:
Player 1: Works, stutters slightly at start.
Player 2: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 3: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 4: Does not work, does not display.
Player 5: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 6: Displays, does not play.
Player 7: Works, no stutter at start.
Google Chrome 4.1.249.1045 unknown (42898):
Player 1: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 2: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 3: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 4: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 5: "No plugin available to display this content."
Player 6: Displays, does not play.
Player 7: Works, no stutter at start.
Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385:
Player 1: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 2: Works, stutters at start.
Player 3: Works, no stutter at start.
Player 4: Works, stutters at start. CSS causes a large vertical margin at the top/bottom in both native and quirks/compatibility mode.
Player 5: Does not load/display.
Player 6: Works, stutters at start.
Player 7: Works, no stutter at start.
Opera 10.51.3315:
Wierd stuff happened in this browser. See notes for details.
Player 1: Works, no stutter at start, each play causes the total time indicator to increase 10 seconds. Does not repeat. Only needs one click to play.
Player 2: Works, no stutter at start, repeats multiple times, more times each time the page is reloaded. Requires two clicks to play.
Player 3: Works, no stutter at start. Requires two clicks to play.
Player 4: Looks nice, doesn't play. Requires two clicks to play.
Player 5: Works, no stutter at start. Requires two clicks to play.
Player 6: Loads, does not play. Requires two clicks to play.
Player 7: Works, no stutter at start. Requires two clicks to play. Repeats, with more repeats on each refresh.
This browser seems to have some bug or something to do with file handling and sizes, maybe. Also, flash objects and media plugins have to take focus by one click before they will respond to further mouse clicks.
I have other test machines with other operating systems (Windows Vista and XP) I can test on if needed.
By this testing, player 1 and 2 are the best options, IMO.
Drop my a line at mad man mark au -at- hot mail dot com
All but 6 works for me. Firefox on Windows XP. Although #1 works, I don't like the popup.
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same situation as Proven. I'm on an iPhone and 3, 4, 5, 6 all work for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm on a mac and am using safari. Only 5 does not work. Thanks!
ReplyDelete1, 2 and 7 work for me Mozilla Firefox is what I use on my P.C. Windows Vista. 3 through 6 show the dark bar, but that's it. Even tried refreshing and that's it.
ReplyDeleteKim
Oh, sorry, #6 shows the actual player bar but won't play :-(
ReplyDeleteOnly 3 and 5 work for me.
ReplyDeleteI use firefox on Ubuntu (Linux).
1,3,5,6 & 7 all work for me. 2 & 4 just appear to be almost blank spaces, but I think that must be an issue on my end.
ReplyDeleteOpera, XP
ReplyDelete1,2,7 work fine.
7 I've had work on various podcast pages, and it worked better than the old one (which had some issues with playing clips too close after eachother)
Hi, i'm using Google Chrome (on a windows PC)
ReplyDeletenumber 5 doesnt show up, 6 shows but does not work. All the others work fine.
Macbook using Firefox. Only #1 works for me. What ever you had before also worked great. (3&5 don't even show up)
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER; when I open Safari they all work except #6.
Using Chrome on a windows PC.
ReplyDeleteI can see them all, only that 6 is not working. . .
Also tested on google reader (again: PC, Chrome)
ReplyDelete3, 4, 5 & 7 are not visible
1 and 6 show as links and when I click it opens a new window.
2 is the only one showing up correctly (and playing too :D)
123457 work
ReplyDelete6 no sound
mac, safari
2 and 7 work for me
ReplyDeletePC, Firefox
pc, windows 7, google chrome
ReplyDeletethey all work except number 6
4 and 6 does not work for me. I am on a Mac on Firefox.
ReplyDelete1, 3, 4 and 7 work for me.
ReplyDelete64bit Ubuntu Linux
Google Chrome
I'm on OS X 10.5 (Apple Mac) using Safari 4.0.5. They all work except 5 and 6. I really like no. 7 you are using.
ReplyDeleteI'm on Windows 7 Ultimate, using Firefox 3.6.3.
ReplyDelete1, 2, 3, 5 & 7 works fine.
4 only displays a big x on the box.
6 shows the player, and I can press play, but it doesnt't play any sound!
(I also really like number 7)
I've got 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7. I'm on a Mac running Google Chrome.
ReplyDeleteI'm on PC and Chrome (or, sometimes IE). They both play everything except for 5 and 6. But I guess you already realized it so far :)
ReplyDeletemac, firefox
ReplyDelete1,3,5,6,7 work
1,3,4, and 7 work for me (PC, Chrome). 2 and 6 don't show up at all. 5 is just a puzzle piece icon.
ReplyDeleteI'm on a PC running Windows 7, using Google Chrome as my browser.
ReplyDelete1, 3, 4, and 7 all show up, but three won't works (displays that frustratig little circley thing when I mouse over), 5 shows up as a puzzle piece, and the rest don't show up at all. I prefer number 7, except that the "or click here" text in the blog prevents it from opening all the way.
OK, here's my results:
ReplyDeletePlatform: Mandriva Linux 2010
Firefox 3.6.3
1 Player appears floating on bottom of page
2 Can't see
3 Embedded media player (mplayer)
4 Big dark grey box containing an X
5 Embedded media player (mplayer) - slightly larger than 3, contains progress bar
6 Ordinary html link to the mp3 file, loads in new page
7 Neat little flash player thingy, works
So all the odds work fine for me - 1, 3, 5, 7.
Google Chrome 5.0.307.11 beta
1 Player appears floating at bottom of page
2 Can't see
3 Embedded media player (mplayer)
4 Dark grey flash player, works
5 Can't see
6 Can't see
7 Neat little flash player thingy, works
So on Chrome, 1, 3, 4 and 7 work.
Combining the two, 1, 3, and 7 are the best. But as 1 remains on screen after playing and has to be manually closed, I'd say options 3 or 7.
I'm on a Mac, using Safari for my browser, and numbers 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7 work. 2 and 6 don't even show up.
ReplyDelete1,3,4 and 7 work and can be seen on page. macpro and gchrome.
ReplyDelete1,3,5,6,7 worked with a Mac running Safari
ReplyDelete1,3,7 work on Windows XP with Chrome
ReplyDeleteI'm running Mac OSX version 10.6.3, Safari 4.0.4.
ReplyDelete1,3,4, &7 work for me, but 2 & 6 are completely blank, and 5 is just a black bar which doesn't do anything.
1, 3, 5, 6 and 7 work on Firefox 3 Mac OS 10.4.11
ReplyDelete1, 3, 4, 7 work on Safari on a Macbook Pro. Mac OS 10.6.3
ReplyDeleteNothing shows for 2 or 6, 5 is a black bar with nothing in it.
Cool site!
1,3,4,5,7
ReplyDeleteSafari on Mac OS10.5.8
I'm using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox on a PC and 1, 3, 5, 6, and 7 worked for me. By the way, thank you guys so much for giving me so many things to giggle about!
ReplyDelete1, 3, 5, 6 and 7 works for me.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer #1 though. #7 started Spotify and blared an advertisement immediately after. Gah.
I'm on WinXP using the latest Mozilla Firefox.
I can see 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7. And i much prefer the ease and speed of 7.
ReplyDeleteNot So Newly Wed
11 June 2010 at 11:54
Dell PC - Windows 7 - Firefox
ReplyDelete1, 3, 5, 6, and 7 all work
2 and 4 do not
I'm using safari version 4.0.5 on a macbook, using OS 10.5.8. I can see 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7, and they all work fine. 2 and 6 are empty--can't see them, can't play them.
ReplyDeleteI can hear 1 3 4 5 and 7. I am on a Mac running Snow Leopard 10.6
ReplyDeleteI can't see 2 and 6
I can hear 1,3,5,6,and 7 using Firefox for Mac. I can't see 2 at all and 4 is just a gray box with an x in it.
ReplyDeleteMac OS 10.5.8
ReplyDeleteFirefox v 3.6.6
2's invisible
4's a grey box
I loath #6 because it requires the use of a new page, and thus forces me to take action with the back arrow to return to the original audio selection page
1 is slightly superior, auditorily
The rest broadcast a bit of phasing, stuttering, metallic swirly sound.
I've got Mac OS X and my browser is Safari (which I didn't realize I was using until just now, let me try Firefox...).
ReplyDeleteOn Safari 2 and 6 don't show up, but everything else is fine.
On Firefox 1 takes you to a new window (you have to go back to get to the blog entry), 2 and 4 don't show up, and everything else works.
Mac OS X Safari
ReplyDelete1,3,4,7 work
2,5,6 are invisible
Macbook OSX 10.6.4 Firefox
ReplyDelete1. Don't like the player opening up at bottom, but it works.
2. doesn't show up
3. fine
4. shows as a box with no play
5. fine
6. opens in new window so have to backup to get back to home page but works
7 fine
On the site, mostly the play works but for some reason occasionally I have to go to the second option even though I use the same computer every time

ReplyDeleteI am using Mozilla on Windows. Options #2 and #4 don't show up for me. The rest work fine. I personally prefer #7.
ReplyDeleteChrome on Win XP
ReplyDelete1, 3, 4, 7 work fine
2, 6 do not show at all
5 shows a missing plugin.
My preference is for 7
3,4,5 works for me
ReplyDeleteI' on an ipad with safari
I'm using Firefox 3.6.8 on a Mac running 10.4.11
ReplyDelete1,3,5 and 7 all work fine. I particularly like the format for 7.
6 plays, but takes me to a new page that is just a player, which is not so convenient.
2 and 4 don't show players for me at all.
1, 3, 4 & 7 all work perfectly. There's place-marker for 5 (a picture of a puzzle piece) and 2 and 6 are not there at all.
ReplyDeleteUsing Chrome 5.0.375.126 on a PC running Windows XP Pro 5.1 sp3
1, 3, 4, 7 works for me in Safari 5 on the Mac. Do you guys accept new designs for your shirts? I'd be very interested in designing some of your new tees.
ReplyDeleteI can play all of them but 2 & 6. I'm on a Mac running OSX 10.6, running Safari 5.0.1
ReplyDeleteAlso running OSX, but using 10.5.8 and Chrome and I can't see 2 or 6 either.
ReplyDeletefirefox, on a PC.
ReplyDelete1.works
2.doesn't even show up
3.works
4.shows only as a blank grey box.
5.works, but as it seems to have mute set as default, you've missed half the clip before you make it audible.
6.takes you to another window to play the clip.If you were reading the blog now you have to press the back button on your browser to go back there.
7.works.

ReplyDelete3 and 7. I prefer 7, But to maintain iPad compatibility (no flash) maybe go with 3.
ReplyDeletei'm on firefox on a mac and i can see 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7.
ReplyDeletei can't see 2 at all and 4 is just a grey box with an 'X' in it! 6 is a bit too inconvenient, i like all the other though :)
1, 4, & 7.
ReplyDeleteI'm using Google Chrome on a PC
I'm on a Mac and 2&4 do not work.
ReplyDeleteDon't like 6 (new window)
Running Firefox...
thanks for the laughs :)
MacBook Pro using a Webkit browser with flash-block enabled:
ReplyDelete1 - the player pops up, but there's no audio
2, 6, & 7 - flash-blocked
3, 4, & 5 - happily work and with no flash needed :-)
